Reflection of the day

I'm thinking of adding a daily reflection to my blog as a way for me to summarise all the things that i have learnt and experienced.

I shall start with today.

Today, i had my economics lecture.

Well, i think the lecturer is quite experienced in his field, should be one of the best tutor of the module.
However, my impression from the 1st 2 economics lecture is that he seems to like to elaborate on the introductory slides a lot, resulting in having to rush towards the back. Economics is an interesting course, but i have yet fully eternalise the economics theory. Having some troubles understanding the economic concepts of supply and demand, the supply curve, demand curve, efficiency, equity, deadweight loss. Seems that i have a lot of reading to do!

After the economics lecture is the organisational behaviour module. The facilitator is a nice lady from Hongkong, seems really professional in her teachings. I think i'm going to enjoy the module, looks fun, different from the other courses which are heavy in theory. However, the sessions don't cover the lecture notes and textbook information, all of which are expected to be read beforehand. It's the thing which is tough for me. There's a lot of information to be digested in the textbook. I think i should start this weekend.

Passed yanpeng the serious sam CD. Oh well, he is still playing his games.

At 21 of age, after the start of university, i have the sudden realisation that playing games are a waste of time. An activity which is meant as less-than-a-leisure-activity. An activity which should only be done if there's nothing else to do. A leisure activity should be running, playing badminton, in short, playing sports. Before that, games are a part of my life. A day without gaming is like a day without eating. The hunger for games get accumulated. Seems like a gaming addiction. But no, i don't think i'm that addicted. Oh well, now i don't get the high of winning in games as i've been. Probably because i realised that there's other things in life which are important to me. Family, studies and jobs, love?

I realised that life is quite fragile actually, having been through my maternal grandfather's funeral, followed by the passing of my jc friend's mother who got cancer, then another jc friend's father died of heart attack. Another jc friend of mine recently got diagnosed with cancer (he has since been certified cancer free after months of chemotherapy, really admire his ability to continue his uni studies throughout this period), my brother got infected with dengue which resulted in much sufferings.

When i was a younger, i used to take life for granted. Never thought that the next moment could be the last breath for anybody. Food comes to me (at times forcefully as i am a picky eater, i don't eat things which looks disgusting to me. Mushrooms used to be one of them) , money was handed to me (in the form of pocketmoney), my grandparents pick me up from school, took me out to play, bathe me, buy sweets for me. Homework? My parents will monitor them daily. I enjoy times where i do not get monitored. I do what i like. I go haywire. The funny thing is , although i hate being monitored and nagged, i will sometimes need some concern in order to function normally.

Tomorrow, i'll be going down to united sports to tie down on the plaques for the event that i'm in charge of. Seems that my team members are less bonded together now. 3 members of the team are involved in other events. 2 members having inter hall games. others in other departments. I'm left with a few people. Something wrong with my leadership?

Wow, i have so many mails! I got to go now. Time to maximise my capabilities.
