An accident
She was crossing the road. A taxi was speeding down the road. She didn't see it coming. The driver didn't have time to stop. There was a loud screech of the brakes. With a strong impact, she was knocked a few metres away from the point of collision. She was thrown and rolled to rest in an awkward position. People started to gather. The taxi driver was in a shock. Everybody do not know what to do. They just stared. Some angers flared. Others talked bad things behind the driver's back. Someone called the ambulance. She lay there motionless, as if she's waiting for the angels in the heavens to claim her. A tinge of sadness lingered in the air. Then came the sound of the lifeline. A gentle wail of the ambulance filled the air. People started to brighten up. Hope is here. I watched the ambulance cross through thicks and thins of cars and traffic lights. Ambulance approached the scene of the accident. It stopped in front of the women and out came 3 paramedics. The flashing lights of the ambulance attracted people's attention. People started to gather around. Some ran towards the scene from the MRT stations. People are concerned. People likes to mind other people's affairs. But this is a matter of life and death. The paramedics carried her onto a stretcher. One of them took a piece of white cloth. Is she dead? He covered her with it. Leaving her head exposed. She's still alive. Watching from afar, someone at the verge of death. It warms the heart to feel that someone this moment is saved. Someone is able to breathe yet another breath. Someone has the opportunity to be in existence to do what they have yet to do. May she have another chance to live.
